Make sure to keep over 200 food in your storage every time before a big battle towards the end the level. For 1.1 on insane I can usually beat this easily with a chamber of 10 (upgraded as much as possible) food stores, keeping about 400-500 for the final battle, about 5-7 extra level 1 workers, and 19 level 3 black ants + about 10 or more level 1 black ants depending on my extra food. While 3 level one ants will always destroy one level 3 ant, you must consider it is more cost efficient to use level 3 ants. Also while it would be better to get more level one ants, because many computers experiences a lot of lag with wood ants, usually it is better to just stick to 50 wood ants and upgrade them all to level 3 in 2.1.
